What Is It?
Volunteers Week celebrates the amazing contributions Volunteers make to communities across the UK.
It’s a chance to recognise, celebrate and thank the UK’s incredible volunteers for all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector, and society as a whole.
This year Volunteers Week is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary.
When Is It?
The celebration starts on the first Monday in June every year.
This year Volunteers’ Week will culminate in The Big Help Out, from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 June, where people across the UK will get the chance to experience a range of volunteer taster sessions.
What Happens During Volunteers Week?
From open days to celebration events, every year hundreds of online and in-person activities take place across the UK to mark Volunteers’ Week and celebrate volunteers.
How Can We Get Involved?
We would love for as many RDA groups and volunteers to get involved as possible, you can do this by:
- Spreading the word (in person & online!)
- Sharing your RDA Volunteering Stories here.
- Encouraging others to tell their stories by displaying/sharing this poster.
- Running an event at your local group, or in your region.
- Attending our online launch event – details here!
Celebrate Volunteers Week With Us – Starting on Monday 3rd June!
On Monday 3rd June at 6-7pm, we are bringing our community together by hosting an online event exclusively for RDA Volunteers and everyone is invited to get involved.
Our new CEO Michael Bishop will be shining a spotlight on Millie Boo Smith, para dressage rider, disability advocate for Cerebral Palsy and bilateral hearing loss and Young Volunteer.
Michael and Millie will be sharing their stories on how volunteers and volunteering has impacted them and their lives.
This session will be hosted by our new Volunteering Team as we kick off a week-long celebration of the incredible individuals and teams behind the scenes of RDA.
