We’ve been bringing the joy of horse riding and driving disabled people for over 50 years. At the moment, over 17,000 children and adults with a wide range of disabilities benefit. It’s fair to say that, in addition, volunteers and paid staff have found it a really worthwhile thing to do.
On the way, we’ve learned a lot about responding to the needs of different disabilities and we’ve found many imaginative solutions to new challenges. So when it comes to the wider world of equality, diversity and inclusion for all groups in society, we are starting from a good position. Many of the things we tend to do automatically provide the basis for ways in which we can extend our welcome to all people regardless of disability, sex, race, religion and belief, sexual orientation, gender etc.
This session takes our RDA experience and:
- asks us to analyse how we respond to real-life issues in the way groups run
- shows how our responses comply with the equality act and demonstrate good practice.
- sees where we could improve within the disability sector
- takes those lessons and shows how they can be applied in RDA sessions.
Who is this for?
Any RDA volunteer who is directly involved in supporting participants, Coaches, Group Chairs and Trustees
